Have a wonderful late winter break

Good Morning Families,

I want to wish you all a wonderful late winter break.  I hope you all a great time spending time with your families and get a lot of rest.

Here are some updates on what we are doing in our classroom:

In writing we continue our work on Opinion writing. They have been writing opinion pieces about their favorite books, things they would like to change, and lastly, we read the book The Lorax then watched the movie.  We will be writing about which one they liked better and why.  Opinion writing is so much fun.

In math, we have been working with money.  We have been identifying each coin and how much it is worth.  Furthermore, our practice with adding and subtracting with money continues.

On Friday, we celebrated what we loved about math all morning long.  Our second grade team each had different activity set up in our classroom.  The math activities included, estimation, building, tan grams and adding and subtracting games. All of the second graders had a great time rotating around to each classroom, participating in these wonderful math activities.

Thank you all for your donations for our trip to the Flynn.  We are going to the Flynn on Friday, March 8th.

                                                                         Have a great vacation,

                                                                                   Nicole
